Clovis Man Sentenced to Eight Years for Firearm, Drug, and Burglary Charges

Clovis, NM – Ninth Judicial District Attorney Quentin Ray announced that on April 14, 2025, Jeremy Crisp, 27, of Clovis, was sentenced to eight years in the New Mexico Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Burglary.

The burglary charge stems from an incident on April 13, 2024, when officers were dispatched to 113 Park Drive after a 911 caller reported a male inside his residence. The homeowner discovered Crisp inside the home and asked him several times to leave. Instead, Crisp retrieved a drink from the refrigerator and began walking toward the homeowner’s daughter’s room. The homeowner then armed himself with a shotgun and told Crisp to leave immediately or he would be shot. Crisp exited the home shortly thereafter.

The firearm and drug charges originated from a separate incident on December 26, 2024, when officers from the New Mexico State Police and Adult Probation made contact with Crisp. During that encounter, Crisp was found to be in possession of a 9mm handgun—which was later confirmed to be stolen—as well as methamphetamine.

The Honorable Benjamin Cross sentenced Crisp to eight years in prison, which included a habitual offender enhancement.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Jon Harris. Crisp was represented by criminal defense attorney Lance Sumrall of Clovis.
