Clovis, NM – August 28, 2024 – On August 27, 2024, at approximately 11:27 PM, officers from the Clovis Police Department were dispatched to the Clovis Apartments at 1000 N. Martin Luther King Blvd in response to reports of a person being shot. Upon arrival, Officers found a 16-year-old male juvenile suffering from several gunshot wounds. Officers began administering life-saving measures to the juvenile until Clovis EMS arrived. Clovis EMS transported the juvenile to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The 9th Judicial Major Crimes Unit (MCU) was activated to lead the investigation. Through their investigation and interviews, investigators were able to identify Giovanni Brown-Johnson (Age 18) as the suspect in this incident. A warrant was issued for Giovanni for Murder (1st Degree Felony) and Tampering with Evidence (3rd Degree Felony).
