REPEAT DRUG TRAFFICKER SENT TO PRISON

Clovis, NM – Ninth Judicial District Attorney, Quentin Ray, announced that on December 16, 2024, Brandon Romero, age 26, of Clovis, pled guilty to Trafficking Controlled Substances and was sentenced to 7 (seven) years in the Department of Corrections. 

On January 12, 2024, officers with the Clovis Police Department made a traffic stop with Brandon Romero.  The passenger of the vehicle Alejandra Chavarria was asked to step out of the car due to having a warrant.  While officers were speaking to her at the back of the car Brandon Romero exited the car and ran. He was later apprehended by Napa Auto Parts and had a bag of pills, methamphetamines, suboxone strips, cash, and a handgun on his person. Located in the car was an AR rifle.

Today, Judge David Reeb sentenced Romero to seven (7) years in the Department of Corrections, including a four-year habitual enhancement for prior felony charges. Once Romero has completed his sentence, he will be released on two years’ parole and five years’ supervised probation.   

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney, Jon Harris, and Romero was represented by Criminal Defense Attorney, Ben Hermann of Clovis.  The Honorable Judge David Reeb presided over the hearing.
