RODRIGUEZ FOUND GUILTY OF CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

Portales, NM – Ninth Judicial District Attorney, Quentin Ray, announced that on March 25, 2025, Christina Rodriguez, age 26, of Portales, was found Guilty by a Jury of Criminal Damage to Property of a Household Member (Under $1,000).

On June 13, 2024, officers with the Portales Police Department responded in reference to a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the reporting parties who stated that Rodriguez had been sending multiple text messages to the male subject about seeing him earlier in the day with a person she did not like, and that Rodriguez arrived at their residence uninvited. The female subject stated that Rodriguez was not allowed on the property and that she had been driving a green Toyota SUV, which had been parked behind a set of trees in front of the residence. The female subject further explained that she heard a loud pop and observed Rodriguez sprinting away from the scene with an object in her hand, which she believed was used to puncture the tire to their vehicle. The damage to the vehicle was later confirmed when officers found the front passenger tire of the reporting parties’ vehicle had been punctured. Photographs of the damaged tire were taken as evidence.

The Honorable Christopher Mitchell presided over the trial and a sentencing hearing will be set for a later date. Rodriguez faces a maximum penalty of 364 days in the Roosevelt County Detention Center.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney, Jose Maldonado, and Rodriguez was represented by criminal defense attorney, Roderick Juarez of Portales.
